Qualcomm Snaptop prototype tablet with external keyboard looks like a mini all-in-one
Jan 12th
Qualcomm just showed off a new device called the Snaptop, which is basically a slate tablet with a kickstand and a Bluetooth keyboard. While it’s not anything new, the concept is quite appealing and looks similar to MSI’s Windtop or Asus’ Eee Top at a smaller scale.
The prototype unit has a 9″ resistive screen and runs on Google Android. The keyboard and the main display each have a tiny trackball for mouse control, a nice touch for those who have trouble using the touch display for the pointer.
It’s no netbook though since it’ll be hard to use this on your lap with the separate keyboard. There’s no word when of if this will be in production soon but it certainly looks good.

Texet also shows off their tablet
Jan 11th

Here we have another tablet in the form of the Texet EZB890. The specs are below:
- 8.9″ 1024 x 600 touchscreen
- 500MHz MIPS CPU
- Linux OS
- 4GB flash storage
- SD slot
- 2 x USB ports
- 3-hour battery
- 802.11b/g WiFi
- optional 3G modem
Texet is pricing this at $300 but if they partner with a carrier, this might sell for less or even free. Unfortunately, the custom Linux build doesn’t allow easy install of other application but this could change when it goes to market.

Asus Waveface computing concept mockups go live at CES
Jan 11th

Just as it doesn’t want to limit itself in terms of software and mainstream mobile processors for mobile PCs, Asus doesn’t want to rely on the tried and tested netbook form factor forever either. This much is evidenced by the presence of Waveface computing concept mockups at the company’s booth in CES. Pictured above is just one mockup of a Waveface device that Asus is conceptualizing at the moment. As you can see, it’s more flexible than any netbook you and I have ever known, and definitely a lot more portable. Only problem I have with this is, where are they going to hide the battery? It’s probably still a long way until the Waveface comes into retail form, but when it does, I’m sure many will be waiting. In the meantime, Asus is giving us a sneak peek. See more photos at the link below.
