Syndiant and Foryou pico projector prototype would be perfect for netbooks
Jan 9th

So netbook manufacturers have got assembling this generation’s netbooks down to an exact science. Just put together a 10-inch screen, chiclet keyboard, Wi-Fi connectivity and 6- to 9-cell batteries and you’re all set. But you know what would be an awesome addition to that basic list of specs? A pico projector. And the one recently announced by a company called Syndiant and Foryou would be perfect. It outputs at a resolution of 1,024 x 600 and is the size of a small coin (see above). It’s not known how much a component like this will cost at the moment, but a netbook with one of these placed right next to the built-in webcam would be a great buy under $300.

Ion’s iType turns iPhone into full-sized tablet PC on the fly
Jan 9th

While a lot of people seem to be perfectly content with using the iPhone’s on-screen virtual keyboard for typing duties, there are still those who would like to see a physical QWERTY keyboard attached for versatility. A company named Ion, which usually makes USB turntables and cassette decks, has now acted to turn this dream of many into a reality.
A new product of theirs called iType can accommodate any iPhone in its special dock and function as a near full-sized physical QWERTY keyboard. And it doesn’t suck off power from the phone’s batteries. In fact, it may even charge the iPhone via the docking solution it uses to connect to it.
Two prototypes of the iType were present at CES 2010, according to Register Hardware, and the company has mentioned that it sees a rough Q2 release date with a £70 (about $112 USD) price tag.

Foxlink to enter netbook market with luxury model
Jan 4th

Netbooks, whether we like to admit it or not, tend to be quite boring, especially when you’ve seen two or three different models from different manufacturers and realize it’s the exact same thing, just put in a different casing with a different logo on it. So, it might be nice to actually some sort of differentiation between models, because you have to admit, sometimes different netbooks look at lot like each other, more so if it’s different models from the same company. Now I don’t know what you could possibly put on a netbook to make it “look” different from all the others out there, but crystals, decal and other items of adornment as certainly not out of the question.
This might just be what Foxlink plans to do with its first netbooks when it enters the already crowded netbook market, saying that it will target the luxury market with models designed in collaboration with Taiwan-based art design studio DEM. These netbooks will be developed under its TCD own brand name, as Apply Daily reports according to DigiTimes.
Whether Foxlink decides to just douse its copycat netbooks with gold and sell them with pancakes, one thing’s for sure — they won’t be appearing in CES 2010 as the release is scheduled to be some time in Q3 of this year.
