Ubuntu Light – The Web In 7 Secounds
Canonical of Ubuntu fame, has just released their own lightweight OS called Ubuntu Light which seems to have two main focuses. One is developing a lightweight netbook interface (Unity) and the other is the Instant On OS itself aimed at netbooks and desktops.
Ubuntu Light Features
- Boots into the web in 7 seconds – on a Dell Mini 10v
- Vertical app launcher spaces vertical space
- App launcher will be optimized for touch – finger friendly
- Global panel which integrates app window icons
- Will be optimized for hardware to boot as fast as possible
- Netbook interface (Unity) still being developed – will make it into the next Ubuntu Netbook Edition 10.10
A download is available right now for OEMs and for you individuals to test out. (it’ll run on top of Ubuntu 10.04)
