More Eee, More Speed…
Apr 30th
No matter how well designed or how fast a netbook can be created, there are those amongst us, those called tweakers, who want to see just how far the hardware can be taken and what improvements and optimisations can be achieved under limited conditions.
Occasionally, these secrets of faster processing are revealed for the common mortal to take advantage of. These tips, tricks and special tweaks usually wield faster performance, quicker response and sometimes even save a few dollars.
A favourite technique for improving lifespan and performance on the netbooks, more commonly the Eee PC, is tweaking the Eee’s use of the solid state drives and making more applications run from RAM instead of writing to the drive. Four well known ones will give a great start to the optimisation process, as well as several others on the user forums. So give them a try and see for yourself. It is amazing how much more power the Eee can give when we want to push it.
Netbook Bag for His and Hers
Apr 30th

Just bought the perfect bag for my Eee PC 1000HE. It’s the Business Casual Ultra-portable Attaché for 10″ padded shoulder bag made specifically to fit 7-10.1 inches netbooks and UMPC. It fits my 1000HE perfectly with small room for air to circulate inside. There’s also two pockets inside for storing SDHC memory cards and a bigger pocket for storing other accessories. Outside of the bag is a small pocket that could hold the Eee PC’s power adapter. The bag is made polyester fabric and has padded shoulder strap that would not strain your shoulder easily. This Case Logic netbook bag goes for around $35.
Of course, for my wife, I got an orange Betsumo hand-carry bag that also fits her Eee PC 1000H perfectly. It’s not really a popular brand internationally, so the brand may not ring a bell to you. The bag also has a small pocket outside that fits the 1000HE’s power adapter. It’s well padded so you can rest assure that your bag is well taken care. While inside it are two small pockets you can use to store your SDHC cards. Her bag costs around $40.
So, have you bought a bag for precious netbook? Which brand did you get?
