7″ Netbook from Fidelity Electronics
Feb 28th

As the time netbooks have been out extends, so has the functionality and specifications. More and more netbooks are carrying specs found on many full sized laptops with only the screen and keyboard size being the only real big changes, not forgetting the price difference. Fidelity Electronics however are to release a netbook, which goes back to netbook basic specifications.
The Very Personal Computer by Fidelity will feature a 7 inch display with a resolution of 800 x 480. Operating system and processor wise, the specs aren’t clear, but it appears that it could have a 100MHz processor and with the pre-installed applications it sounds like this could be a Linux based netbook.
The size of the storage on the VPC also points to the netbook running from Linux as it’ll feature just 2GB of storage. Pre-installed applications include word and spreadsheet apps, browser, calendar, PDF reader and e-book reader. Fidelity’s VPC is to go on sale for $199.99 in the US in March.

Full range of Asus Eee PC 1000HE colors revealed
Feb 27th

Without official announcement from Asus, it has been revealed that the Asus Eee PC 1000HE will be available in other colors besides black and white. These are pink, blue, silver, and gold. Of course, the purpose of this is just to give buyers a choice of colors instead of forcing them to enjoy their netbook in just one or two shades of the rainbow’s spectrum. In other words, specs across all netbooks in the range are the same, from the 10-inch screen, to the Intel Atom N280 processor, to the 9-hour battery life. I think the silver one looks especially nice. And if the price is the same, then all the better for potential owners. See more of the photos in the site linked below.

O2 finally starts offering Samsung notebooks with data plan
Feb 27th

As expected, O2 UK has finally launched its own free netbook/cheap laptop data plan bundle, and new subscribers can avail immediately of the offer. In total, O2 UK will give customers a choice between three laptops, but these only come in two models. One is the Samsung NC10, which has been hailed by many as the best netbook ever (before the Asus Eee PC 1000HE), and then there’s the Samsung R510 (and a “multimedia version” of the same).
The basic data plan comes with 3GB of download and costs £30 per month, with which either the Samsung NC10 or R510 can be availed for free. A £40 per month plan is also available and gives 10GB download, and both plans last two years on contract. So if you’ve been waiting for these deals ever since they were first announced, don’t be left out and contact your nearest O2 branch now.
