Sony Vaio P Specs Earn Verdict of “Pretty Lame”
Jan 19th
Over at akihabaranews, the new Sony Vaio P netbook has been reviewed and overall, the review of the netbook isn’t all that positive. Build quality and design, both strong points for most products produced by Sony, were praised but, the specifications on the new Sony netbook failed to impress the reviewer and seem to leave the Vaio P struggling to perform as hoped and on par with other netbooks. In fact, using Windows 7’s own performance rating feature, the Vaio P only managed to score a lowly 1.9 as shown below:

The review is a little disappointing and leaves a thought in my mind that Sony may well be concentrating too much on how the Vaio P looks rather than on building a compentent netbook. Perhaps they are buying into the hype too much and believe they can sell these netbooks to the masses regardless of specs and they might just be right.

The Alpha 400 MIPS Netbook Comes in Cheap
Jan 19th

We’ve already told you about the dirt cheap Alpha 400 MIPS Netbook not so long ago. Back then, we couldn’t believe that a netbook would only cost you $190, nevermind if it could only muster a 7-inch display, 128 MB RAM, 400MHz MIPS processor and 1GB flash memory. It still is a decent netbook that could probably answer your basic computing and web surfing needs.
Good news is that the Alpha 400 MIPS netbook’s price has been reduced to $169. The said netbook is being offered at the cheap price by Geeks.com.
If your kids have been troubling you since Christmas to get them a toy-like netbook, this could probably your cheapest bet.
