Acer Aspire One Available at Best Buy for $
Dec 23rd

Still in for a last-minute Christmas shopping? If the Acer Aspire One is among your Christmas gadget wish list but you can’t avail of the Radioshack promo or you’re not from the Philippines, then you’re in luck because Best Buy has just made available a blue Acer Aspire one for $299.99. That’s a whooping $50 off from its regular price.
And for that promo price you’d get a spunking new Acer Aspire One with the following basic features, 8.9-inch display, Intel Atom processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB SSD and yes, a Windows XP Home OS.
Sorry folks, but the promo is not tied up with any mobile carrier plans. You’d be better off with the Radioshack promo if its still available up to now.

Smooth Creations Did a Great Paint Job on the MSI Wind U100
Dec 23rd

Remember the painted Acer Aspire One which Smooth Creations called the Wedge? Well, Smooth Creations has done a great job again of re-designing another netbook, this time the MSI Wind U100 which it calls the Slice.
The Smooth Creations Slice netbook is your standard MSI Wind U100 netbook in terms of features and specs. These include, a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor, a 10.2-inch display, 1GB of RAM, 120 GB of HD and Windows XP Home OS.
What makes this version of the MSI Wind U100 different though is of course the paint job done on its decal by Smooth Creations’ designers. There are several designs which you can choose from and the good thing is each designs will be used only once per netbook. So you are assured that you won’t see anybody having the same design as your MSI Wind U100.
The Smooth Creations Slice netbook is available for $499.99. Considering the market price of the MSI Wind which is around $350, you are practically paying $99 for the paint job.

Asus Eee PC for Dummies
Dec 23rd

You’d know when something becomes popular if it already has a “for Dummies” book up on its sleeve. If you’re familiar with titles in the for Dummies book series, you’d know what I mean. And our favorite netbook just got a book of its own – the Asus Eee PC for Dummies.
The Eee PC spectrum has certainly grown into a bigger proportion since it was released last year. We’ve seen so many variations and models, we’ve seen various blogs dedicated to the Eee PC (including ours of course), we’ve read and covered news coverages, product launches, various hacks, accessories and what-have-you’s. And so now for a change how about a full-featured book dedicated to it? Not a bad idea right?
The Asus Eee PC for Dummies is your ultimate printed resource for anything and everything about the Eee PC. It was written by Joel McNamara who wrote similar book in the for Dummies series including, GPS for Dummies and Geocaching for Dummies.
Looking at the back cover of the book, it says that the book contains the following:
- a quick course in using Linux
- how to set up Windows on an Eee PC
- a guide to all the pre-installed software
- how to make Skype phone calls and listen to Internet radio
- tips on backing up, restoring, and troubleshooting
- testing and security advice
- how to add storage and peripherals
- ways to expand your Eee PC’s battery life
- and many more
The book also has an accompanying web site which you can find here.
The Asus Eee for Dummies is currently available online at Amazon.com for a reduced price of $16.49.
We’ve received a complimentary copy of the book and will write a detailed review as soon as we finished reading it.
