Wooden Effect for MSI Wind Clone

A member over at the msiwind.net forums named tankboyben has posted up pictures of their home designed / “Blue Peter” Inspired netbook rebranded MSI Wind, the Advent 4211. The budding netbook designer has used wood effect sticky vinyl to cover the lid of the 4211 and to cover the trackpad too:
The creator acknowledges that the design isn’t going to be to everyones taste and in fact his dad thinks it looks like a school canteen tray which, I admit was my very first thought when I saw it! Love it or hate it though, it’s individual and it seems to be a job well done.
Burning issue for me though is does that trackpad still work with the vinyl stuck on it? Tankboyben hasn’t logged back in yet to answer that question unfortunately.
Anyone else have the urge to back their netbook in sticky back plastic?

New Target – Another Sub $300 Asus Eee PC

Target customers can now pick up an Intel Atom processor powered Asus Eee PC, running Linux with 4GB SDD and 512mb RAM for a bargain price of $299. There are three colors of netbook to choose from – black, white and purple.
All three models are newly added to the Target catalogue, presumably in response to the huge sales in netbooks worldwide and in response to the popularity of sub $300 netbooks. In recent days Best Buy have also added a sub $300 netbook to it’s range which we reported about here and that was also an Eee PC, so it was only a matter of time before other large retailers followed suit.
