T-Mobile Germany Acer Aspire One 3G offer: €1 netbook with 2yr HSDPA contract
Sep 20th
T-Mobile Germany have announced a deal which will see them selling a heavily-subsidized Acer Aspire One netbook along with 3G WWAN data access. The setup, which will be internal an HSDPA modem, is similar to that recently announced by Vodafone in the UK, who have an exclusive European deal with Dell to offer 3G versions of the Inspiron Mini 9 netbook..
T-Mobile Germany will be selling the Aspire One for just one Euro ($1.43), as long as users agree to a two-year data contract at €35 per month ($50). That works out to €841 over the two years, or $1200, which is more than the Vodafone/Dell deal; however there’s no word on what the data limit is. Vodafone’s offer has a rather meagre 1GB cap.
Also unclear is which version of the Aspire One is on offer, the hard-drive or SSD based netbook. Presumably Vodafone will be bundling the cheapest, which suggests the Linux OS and 8GB of SSD storage.

We’ve seen how PC manufacturers are trying their best to make their netbooks as sleek-looking as possible. In fact most of them have made their netbooks in various color design which are not traditionally PC colors. But what if we up the notch further and make these netbooks in various artsy design? We don’t mean artsy designs which you stick on the decals of your netbooks, but rather straight out of the box netbook designs with abstracts, colorful and even weird design such as a skull.
Ok too much for introduction, the netbook we are talking about is the Wedge from SmoothCreations. Said netbook comes in custom painted designs that utilizers high-grade coating materials that you usually find in auto decals. In fact, the Wedge netbook’s coating material came from Sikkens and Glasurit which ensures that the paint finish are durable and resilient.
Now for the Wedge’s specs and details:
- 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU
- 120GD HDD
- 1.0GB of Gskill RAM
- WiFi
- 10-inch display
- Windows XP or Vista OS
The Wedge Netbook is available now for around $500. For the artwork designs, each customized designs are serialized to ensure that no two netbook units have the same design. So, that pretty much ensures that your netbook with be different from the other netbooks.
