Intel Classmate Netbook Arrives in the UK Market
Jul 17th
Intel maybe a little late in shipping its Classmate netbook to the UK now that our UK friends have the Eee PC 901 into their shore, but still the Classmate netbook which is released by Actronix in the UK may just be worth a look.
Released under a new branding, which is JumpPC, this small and relatively cheap netbook features:
- 900MHz Intel Celeron Mobile processor
- 512MB RAM
- 2GB Flash storage (or a 30GB HDD)
- 7-inch 800×480 LCD display
- 2 USB ports
- 10/100MB/s Ethernet
- 802.11 b/g WIFI
- webcam
- Windows XP Home Edition.
The JumpPC has a price tag of around $474 and is available for pre-orders at JumpPC product site.

Are We Looking at Another Eee PC Model?
Jul 17th
What do we have here? We all know that Asus has already made available the Eee PC 901 with a 20GB and 12GB SSD. We also know that Asus is about to ship the Eee PC 1000 with a 40GB SSD, and the 1000h with an 80GB HDD. Plus there was also the announced Eee PC 904 and 905. With all these Eee PC models that advances from the Eee PC 900, we wouldn’t expect Asus to retract a bit on its product strategy and release a new Eee PC 900 model.
But it seems like Asus maybe prepping up that model after all, if an Asus China product spec would be the basis. In fact, the Asus China has even listed three variants of the Eee PC 900 with 30GB HDD, black and white models with Linux OS and a Black model with Windows XP.
The price for the Linux version was said to be around $512, while the XP version would sell for around $612.
No words yet on when this Eee PC 900s will be released as well as where it will be released. Stay tune for updates.

Asus Launches the Eee PC Box and Eee PC 1000h in Singapore
Jul 17th

Asus has started launching the Eee Box and the Eee PC 1000h in Asia, particularly in Singapore. Actually, I just spoke with a Philippine contact awhile ago inviting me to the product launch of the Eee PC 901 in Manila supposedly on the 23rd of July, but apparently it has to be cancelled since the Asus has changed their mind and decided to launch the Eee PC Box and the Eee PC 901 instead. Apparently, the Eee PC 901 will no longer be released here. Could be due to the lack of supply for the Atom?
Anyway, going back to the launch of the Eee PC Box. From the published photos taken during the product launch, the Eee PC Box looks sleek. It touts a 5 seconds boot up and runs on Windows XP. All the features that were recently published are intact, including – Intel Atom Chipset, 1GB RAM, 80GB HD, WIFI, Card Reader and LAN.
The Eee PC Box retails for around $325.
